Festival and Carnival today

The Audlem Music & Arts Festival has a full day programme of music today, Bank Holiday Monday, as well as the art exhibition.

The Art & Crafts exhibition opens at 11.00am until 5.00pm in the Methodist Church Hall. It's big, it's bright and it features work by local artists, both professional and amateur.

Do look in at the exhibition. You will be amazed at the variety and quality of the work.

There's music to suit all tastes on the three stages at the pubs during the day plus in the courtyard at Number Eleven Cheshire Street and in Blues Alley, a favourite location for Festival enthusiasts opposite St James' Church.

There are so many fine musicians performing today it almost seems unfair to pick out one for our photo. Manchester's the Travelling Band, playing at the Bridge Inn at 5.30pm, are however one of your correspondent's all-time favourites. Great to see them back again at the Audlem Festival.

Then in afternoon it's the Audlem Carnival – running annually since 1812 – up on the playing field plus all the fun of the fair.
