The whole night was for the benefit of the Medical Transport services run by ADCA (Audlem District Community Action).
The Lord Combermere was packed -- full to overflowing with extra seating needed to accommodate all who came for the Annual Christmas Buffet and Charity Quiz Night. £334 was taken as entry fees from the regulars with extra from the people who came just for the occasion.
The buffet was paid for from the £1's given to me during the past 12 months to cover costs of wines etc for each of the 50 Quiz nights. The superb spread (see top photo) put on by Jo & Allan and their team of Chefs was, to say the least, magnificent and the movement of all to partake went very smoothly. As far as I know all felt the foods on offer were of a very high standard and no one went hungry!
Then we had our quiz with four rounds by Mike Haines and myself, with more to come after the Auction and the Raffle.
Followed by a very successful auction of lots -- very graciously donated for this worthwhile cause. Charlie Foyle was again the star auctioneer and, by his efforts and skills, he gleaned the magnificent sum of £1212!!.
Star lot again was the Welsh Country house weekend for twelve donated by Ann-Michelle Bulkeley. Many other fine lots and the superb basket of fruit -- again donated by Ann & ian Jones -- was a picture to behold (see photo). Great assortment of Bentley goods was very popular and so good of Bentley to give them to us.
The raffle raised £463 with many prizes donated by ADCA supporters and others.
All in all with raffle money and entry fees, we raised £2009 for ADCA.
A great result and my very sincere thanks, on behalf of ADCA, to all who entered into the spirit and helped us in raising such a great sum.
Thanks go to Ian Hallat, John Cooke, John Tiling and Bob McClintock in helping me on the night.
My best wishes to all and a very Merry Christmas
