Our talk this month was given by Stacey Harvey-Brown, an enthusiastic weaver who likes to break all the rules. It was exciting, entertaining and full of information about various methods of loom weaving.

She was first inspired by the David Attenborough programme 'Life in the Freezer', then by the landscape around her, expressed in samples which covered tufted carpet weave, waffle weave and velvet. Having spent 2 months studying in Florence, where she mastered the Jacquard technique, her double cloth sample was incredibly beautiful and could be used on either side.

When viewing her slides, the members were asked to suggest which methods or techniques they would use to interpret the image being shown, e.g. stitch, quilt, or paint etc. It proved to be an excellent brain-storming session. We all look forward to the publication of her book.

Our next meeting, 15th April, will be "The Evolution of my Own Work" by Carol Coleman. See Fibredance" rel="nofollow">Fibredance. Please check out our website for more photos and information at Embroiderers' Guild" rel="nofollow">Embroiderers' Guild
