Following a series of Chatbox posts about the reaction of dogs and cats to the Fireworks tonight, we understand ACDAFT (Audlem Canine Defence Against Fireworks Trauma) is setting up a stall under the Buttermarket this morning.

Apparently, ear plugs for dogs will be available at £1 an ear- free for members of ACDAFT – and will be fitted professionally. The stall will operate from 10.15 – 10.45am during bell ringing at the church. Once fitted, the bells will be reduced to a dull thud, at least for the dogs.

The ear plugs are also suitable for cats but ACDAFT say they must not, in any circumstances, be fitted to gerbils, rats, mice, tortoises or goldfish.

They are also not suitable for children under the age of five, unless innoculated against distemper.

Seriously, the fireworks will start at 6.30pm tonight, Sunday, when it is recommended that all pets are kept indoors – check the link below the photo for more information.
