There's a little bad news for Beer Festival goers, with the withdrawal of Castle Rock's Screech Owl, and the loss of Clarks' Dustin Hoffman beer – how the editor resisted the temptation of a "Dustin Hoffman comes to Audlem" headline I will never know*.
It seems that the Clarks' Brewery has been hit by a yeast infection (can't you get tablets for that – Ed), a serious problem in beer circles as none of the beers will "settle" until it is sorted.
But not to worry. Andy at the Shroppie Fly has replaced both beers, with the imaginatively titled Thornbury's "Jaipur" (a modest 5.9%!) and Woods' "Some 'O That" (3.9%). Tasting notes to follow.
Maybe Dustin Hoffman would have said "Let's have some 'o that..."
The Audlem Beer Festival is on Sunday August 29th and Bank Holiday 30th August at the village's three pubs with thirty cask ales as well as a wide range of ciders on offer.
Camping facilities are available for this new event in the Audlem calendar just a short walk away from all three village pubs. Please call to book on 07929 895749 or simply send an email to davidjoynson@btinternet.com">davidjoynson@btinternet.com
There will be a small camping charge to cover the cost of providing toilet facilities.
*Editor says: That was planned as this morning's headline!
