The Dome Youth Zone in Crewe has been awarded a £350,000 grant from Anne Duchess of Westminster’s Fund to help build their brand new, state-of-the-art facility for Crewe and Cheshire East’s young people.

Construction of the Youth Zone is currently underway, having reached its water-tight construction milestone in early March.

The Youth Zone is expected to open in late 2026, and is currently being built on Oak Street. It will provide thousands of young people with opportunities to engage in activities and access support from exceptional youth workers, helping them to develop their own skills and reach their full potential.

When open, The Dome will be open to young people aged between eight and 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs), seven days a week, for just £5 annual membership and 50p per visit. Members will have access to an indoor climbing wall, four court sports hall, training kitchen, music room with a recording studio, fully equipped gym, dance and drama studio, 3G kick pitch, arts and crafts room, and an enterprise and employment suite.

In addition, Crewe and East Cheshire’s young people will have access to trained youth workers and dedicated volunteers, available seven days a week to offer guidance, support and help.

The Dome Youth Zone is being delivered in partnership with OnSide, Cheshire East Council and supported by several businesses and philanthropists. The Founder Patron campaign aims to achieve long-term sustainability, to ensure The Dome Youth Zone will be an asset to the community, transforming young people’s lives for generations to come.

The Dome Youth Zone’s CEO, Stuart Manifould, said: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to Anne Duchess of Westminster’s Fund for this grant, which will enable us to bring truly first rate youth work and facilities to the young people of Crewe. Investing in young people is investing in the future – not just of our future adults, but in our society and our town.”

Kate Williams, Manager of the Anne Duchess of Westminster’s Fund, said: “Having already partnered with OnSide’s Youth Zones in both the Wirral and Warrington, and seen firsthand the enormously positive impact they have on local children and young people, the Anne Duchess of Westminster’s Fund is delighted to support the development of The Dome in Crewe.”

As the building progresses, The Dome Youth Zone continues to seek support for its annual running costs and build momentum towards its opening. To find out more about being part of The Dome, contact kate.butler@thedomeyouthzone.org
