Last Thursday, 19th November, the South Cheshire Embroiderers' Guild held their Monthly meeting here in Audlem at the Scout and Guide Hall.

We had a good turn out which included visitors and I am pleased to say two new members – word must be getting out there as to how friendly we are as a group of creative people.

Our speaker Dot Waring came all the way from Darwen in Lancashire to give her talk on "Cloth Dolls" bringing with her a variety of dolls made by herself and the members of the group to which she belongs.

Being a good Lancashire lass, she gave tips on how to save money when buying materials and entertained us with wonderful stories on where to source such items. The hall rang with laughter and much to our surprise we were encouraged to handle the dolls having been told that's what they were for.

After the talk Dot and her friend Angela where swamped with questions on how some of the dolls were made and we were promised patterns would be posted for all of us to have a go.

So watch out, there may be some lovely dolls in our forth coming exhibition as part of the Arts and Music Festival next year.
