As well as the drive to update the information on AudlemOnline (click here to read the article) the AoL team has been looking at ways to improve the search facility on the website.

Use the search box

The vital step is to use the search box at the top right corner of the home page or any subsequent page (see picture).

The word, or part-word, entered (no return key needed) is used to search the directories, the pages and the articles on the website.

The directories section, which is where the main details of businesses, groups and services are recorded, is searched first. Titles, subtitles and keywords are checked and any matching items are displayed.

Find the detail

At this stage only the title and subtitle are displayed for each directory entry found.

To see all the information for that directory entry, simply click on that entry and a pop-up will be displayed showing all the recorded information about the entry, together with a link to a full page if one exists.

Use the directory

If you click on the "business", "groups" or "services" button on the AoL home page, you will be taken straight to the relevant directory, where you can further select categories to look at all the entries in that category.

Update the information

It doesn't matter how clever the searching and indexing software is if the underlying information is wrong or out-of-date. AudlemOnline has been trying to ensure that the information about businesses and groups is right, but it is proving a tedious and time-consuming process.

So please, if your business or group is listed in our directories, check the information and let us know if it needs changing (or even if it doesn't).

Thanks to all those who have already responded in the last month or so, but we could do with many more.

Just click here to go to a form on which you can enter updated details.

Thank you.
