Damage to trough

In the early hours of New Year's Day, some very unpleasant men – no doubt fuelled by the Dutch courage of excessive alcohol – decided to prove their perceived manliness by mindlessly up turning the stone trough at the entrance to Emberton Place .

I wonder if it was an act connected with those who were barred from one of our hostelries after unacceptable drunken behaviour.

The pretty pansies were scattered all about, testament to the stupidity of the guilty parties. I say it in the plural as the troughs weigh in at close to a quarter ton.

These were placed there at considerable expense by ADAS back in the Millennium year – firstly smaller ones, which sadly were too easy to steal – and then the larger ones purchased on the grounds that these would survive. As indeed they have.

All the work of ADAS is in making for the scenario of the fine village that Audlem is. Sad that such excellent work and the pansies obtained by Mike Haines should be the target of such yobs. And grown men too!
