Cheshire firefighters start their cycle marathon today (Monday) around all of Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's 29 fire stations to help raise money for an injured colleague.

The crew will be riding their bikes around the fire stations for on-call firefighter Vicki Griffiths who recently had a serious accident that has so far left her unable to feel or move from the waist down.

Birchwood Watch Manager Mark Pollard is taking part in the ride. He said: "We have a massive task ahead and will be riding over 70 miles a day, but this is nothing compared to what Vicki is facing."

To enable Vicki, who is mum to two young sons, to get home from a rehabilitation centre in Southport, her home and car first need adapting, and this is where any money raised from the bike ride will go towards.

All the staff and firefighters at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are behind Vicki and are busy trying to raise as much money as possible so that she can come home.

Donations

Any donations to the cause, can be placed in an envelope, and posted through the letter box of the fire station – the Audlem firefighters will pass it on to the cyclists.
