Green Flag Awards

The local canal ' waterway has been again 'audited' by Green Flag (Keep Britain Tidy). I am 'reliably informed' that everything is looking positive and the Trust plus Volunteers have achieved the award again (I believe that an official Canal & River Trust press release is due) Well done ALL!

Boat Festival weekend

The Volunteer Lock Keepers based in Audlem were joined over a four day period with some volunteers from other areas to cover 'assistance as required' in helping manage water usage and assist passing boat traffic through the multitude of moored classic boat traffic between lock 12 down to lock 15. Our help and assistance was 'much appreciated by all'

Over Friday & Saturday the volunteers were joined by a young lady who is involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme 'Gold Award' Ellie is in her final stages of achieving the award, she was a total delight to have with the team over the two day period.

The photos show Ellie with Ange our Team Leader; with Richard Parry the C & R T Chief Executive Officer; and with Duncan Davenport our local Customer Operations Manager as well as Richard and two of our 'top' volunteers Kevin and Robbo.

Well done all.

August Task Force Day Friday 9th

Yes it did happen (I was away) the team met as normal in the covered accommodation, by all accounts the weather was a 'little miserable' but the team were joined by our 'resident litter picker' plus a focus was put on the local area of responsibility 'the work yard and covered accommodation' a good tidy up of all was carried out by the team again please see photo attached. This programme of work kept the team closer to the tea pot!

The next Task Force Day is programmed for Friday 13th September with a 10:00 start, plus as always, you will find members of the team most days lock keeping on the Audlem flight of locks.
