Council flagpoles go on eBay

A town council is to auction off unwanted flagpoles on eBay to raise extra cash.

The flagpoles will no longer be needed by Whitchurch Town Council when its civic centre undergoes a £1.6 million upgrade.

Only two of the six flagpoles outside the civic centre will be retained in the revamp.

The extra flagpoles will go up on eBay along with surplus desks, chairs and other items.

The town council is to hold meetings in Whitchurch Heritage Centre until the work is finished.
