Corbrook Park, a 76-bed nursing home in Audlem, Cheshire has appointed Sophie Kay as general manager. Sophie, who is a registered nurse, has 17 years experience working within the health and care sector in a variety of roles including as an A&E trauma nurse and care home manager.
Sophie is passionate about caring for the older generation and describes her job as caring for elderly people as a privilege. Sophie brings to the role an in-depth understanding of Corbrook Park as she has been promoted to general manager from clinical deputy manager at the home. Her focus is on ensuring Corbrook Park continues to deliver exceptional standards of high-quality care and her bold ambitions for the home include a targeted refurbishment programme.
Sophie started her career in care as a nurse in a care home. She then spent twelve years working as a trauma nurse in A&E departments in hospitals across the North West, before returning to be a nurse in a GP practice in Cheshire. Seeking management experience, Sophie joined the commissioning team at NHS Cheshire and Merseyside as the nurse lead working across 79 practices in the region. As part of her role, Sophie developed a Florence Nightingale app, a platform that helped her communicate with nurses in all GP practices across Cheshire.
At Corbrook Park, where she will manage a team of over 80 people, Sophie has already started the home s refurbishment programme, which includes the re-design of the dining room, the Style Lounge hair salon and the dementia unit s communal area. Sophie has also introduced a nail bar to the home and re-purposed a room as The Corbrook Court Tea Room, a social area for residents and their families to use and enjoy.
