Our birthday quote on Wednesday last week, was by Confucius, far and away the earliest contributor we have featured.
Confucius' sayings were famous then, are still are, for being obscure (especially in the original Chinese).
The quote we featured was "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance".
A reader has come up with this contribution
"Confucius' aphorism reminded me of Mr John Williams, the caretaker of Sir Hugh Owen School, Caernarfon in the 1970's -- 80's, for whom I felt some admiration for having won, in his youth, the North Wales weight-lifting championship in the morning and, with his wife, the North Wales ballroom dancing championship in the afternoon.
"Does the phrase quoted not imply that a man should develop all sides of his personality to be a fully balanced person?"
We leave it to other readers to comment further....
