There's a very special concert in St James' Church tomorrow evening after the Carols in the Square by the South Cheshire Youth Sinfonia. You will be welcomed with mince pies and hot drinks.

The South Cheshire Youth Sinfonia is a string orchestra made up of young musicians aged between 13 and 19.

The group rehearses every Friday evening during term time (6.30 – 7.30pm) at Malbank School in Nantwich and usually performs at least three concerts a year around the area, and occasionally takes part in competitions, festivals and other projects.

The group is one of Cheshire East's Youth music ensembles and many of its players also perform with the Cheshire Youth and Youth Training Orchestras. Playing in the SCYS gives them an opportunity to experience playing in a smaller ensemble and to explore a wide repertoire including playing solo concerto parts.

Our programme will include works by Elgar, Grieg and our centrepiece will be a performance of Vivaldi's concerto for Four Violins in B minor with Soloists Tom White, Anna Vaughan, Lizzie Eite and Bethan Roberts on violin, continuo played by Catherine Turner (Cello) and James Batty (Harpsichord).

We'd like to thank Helen Chantry for allowing us to use St. James' for this event. We'll be welcoming in our audience with mince pies and hot drinks after the Carols at approximately 8.00pm.

Our concerts are usually not overly long and we would expect to have completed our programme before 9pm.
Clare Smith and Sarah Heald (musical directors).
