I refer to that iconic building that has stood here in the centre of Audlem for some long 700 years and more. A truly magnificent example of Norman Architecture , built then by hand, rope and tackle -- and horse power . Imagine the skilled artisans who laboured there with no power other than muscle and to create those wonderland roof arches and pillars.
Now much needed work is required to ensure it will last until the 3rd Millennium and at the beginning of this year, we set in motion an appeal for those who care , to have a donor plaque within the church, bearing their names and as a record of their such welcome support.
During the COVID-19 period we have been more occupied in helping the village as much as possible and as such , I have let the drive to freewheel for a while .
I would like to kick start it again and declare that we will put a final date for receipt of the plaque appeal forms so that I can busy myself with commissioning the plaques already reserved. This will be the end of August .
Meanwhile, if you wish to have one such Plaque yourselves, please let me know or collect a support leaflet from our newsagents and let me have it as soon as possible. To date we have received the magnificent sum of over £7000!!
A very fine example of the generosity and caring heart of our wonderful community .
With many many thanks to all . To contact me , please use my mobile- 07813 820157 . Drop any completed support leaflets into the newsagents or direct to myself. At Buerton House, Buerton .
