With presents no longer under the tree, and a few needles starting to fall, some people may be thinking of taking their Christmas tree down.
Suzanne Baxter from the Scout & Guide Hall says:
"If you would like your tree to be collected, all you have to do is leave the tree with a cheque for £2.50, or more if you wish, made out to Audlem Scout and Guide Hall.
"Please leave the tree at the end of your drive with the cheque tied to the tree in a polybag.
"Collections will be made on Saturday 7th January 2012 from 10.00am. In the unlikely event we miss you please telephone 07966 504099 or 07788 726634.
"We wish you a Merry Christmas."
A few corrections had to be made after the story had been e-mailed from the phone to Audlem Online and 'copied and pasted' on to the website – but no more than with conventional typing.
The webteam's technical department may now be set the fascinating task of simplifying the process further by programming words little used in Silicon Valley, like 'Audlem', into the Apple word recognition system.
Another giant step for mankind – and a great relief to the editor's typing finger!
