Christmas Is Coming!

Well done to all of the Key Stage 2 children and staff who performed their singing on St James' Church steps at the Big Switch On through rain and wind and still managed to smile! You were great ambassadors for school, thank you.

Children from every year group arrived for lunch yesterday wearing their party hats and looking like Kings and Queens of Audlem! We had a wonderful Christmas lunch together with Christmas songs and all staff helping out with serving food duties. I would like to thank all of the kitchen and Mid-Day staff for all of the hard work they put into this event. A special mention must go to Mrs Hayward, our wonderful school cook, who arrived at school at 7am to make sure all of the meat was ready for the lunch!

The children in Amethyst class welcomed Tor from Zoos2u to their classroom on Monday afternoon. She brought with her a host of furry, scaly and feathered friends. The children learnt a lot of interesting facts about how to handle the animals and about their natural habitats. The children stroked a skunk called Woody, and some brave members of the class even held a baby king python called Dougie! Tor was extremely impressed with the behaviour of the children and said they were the best class she had ever visited. Well done Amethyst class!

This week's Praise Book children are:
Mrs Hayward's Class – Grace Reade
Miss Danha's Class – Kate Sullivan
Mrs Richardson's and Mr Morrey's Class – Tilly Byrne
Mrs Stoker's Class – Carrie Ann George
Mr Perry's Class – Libby Rayne
Mrs Bird's Class – Sam Hassall
Congratulations to you all!

Prayers to Share this week – We give thanks for the learning, friendship, food and songs we have shared
in school this week.
Tidy Team -The winning class this week are Pearl and Sapphire classes – well done!
The winners of our Attendance Cup this week are Amethyst and Ruby classes – well done!

Sports News

Our school football team were action again last night, in final of the South Cheshire shield. They played St Anne's and the team arrived at Nantwich Town eager to impress the fans who had followed them to the ground. Mr Perry reports that it was a very hard fought game with our team having a huge amount of possession in the first half. It was 0-0 until a shot from St Anne's in the second half found its way in at the back post. Although our team hit back straight away and scored within minutes, unfortunately St Anne's did exactly the same by scoring straight from the kick off and we lost the game 2-1. The boys have been a tremendous credit to the school in this competition in both their sportsmanship and the progress they have made as a team. We are all very proud of you. Thank you to the team, Mr Perry and all of the supporters who have cheered the boys on during this super cup run!

FASA

School has been a hive of activity preparing for our Christmas Fair, which will be held in school tonight
from 5pm – 7pm. Members of FASA have been busy preparing tombola and raffle prizes as well as
decorating our super grotto for Father Christmas to use! Thank you to all of the families who have sent in
cakes, crackers and other donations for this event. Events such as these would not be possible without
your generous contributions. I hope to see many of you at the Fair this evening.
A reminder – As in previous years, we will be using the main entrance and main gate only for the
Fair. Please make sure you consider this when making your way back to school.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the FASA team for their continued hard work supporting
our school. I am aware there have been a number of events this term and that all parents and children
have worked hard to make a success of each of them. We are very lucky to have such a supportive and
committed community. Thank you.

Holiday Dates 2016/17

The school dates for 2016/17 have been agreed by Governors and are now fianlised on the school website, they are in the information section of the website under holiday dates. I would like to remind all families that guidance concerning holidays taken in school term time is clear – holidays will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances and both schools and Local Authorities are expected to ensure that such circumstances are not that holidays are cheaper during term time. Parents asking for leave of absence for their child must clearly state why they feel their circumstances are exceptional but schools are not obliged to authorise any holidays. Please bear this guidance in mind when making bookings for any holidays.
