Cheshire East slash ADCA funding

It was reported to last week's Parish Council meeting that, unfortunately, ADCA did not receive this year's core funding of £7,500 from Cheshire East Council. This year competitive bidding for funding disadvantaged small charities like ADCA and funding has instead been awarded to a large Cheshire based organisation. ADCA is now legally challenging the process of tendering in this manner with Cheshire East Council.

Staff at ADCA have volunteered to cut hours for the service by 8 hours a week. In 3 months' time there will be other funding opportunities which ADCA hope to apply for which may raise funds to re-establish staff hours.

Roger Millns, Chairman of ADCA, has told AudlemOnline that, whilst Cheshire East Council have supported ADCA very well over the last seven years, that this loss of core funding has meant that, whilst ADCA has been successful in obtaining other grants earlier in the year, they have had to significantly reduce their costs. This has meant reducing hours at the Tuesday Club and at the Wednesday Group in Hankelow. ADCA are hoping to replace this lost income with a combination of new grants and by increasing charitable fundraising.

Roger further said that, unless ADCA can achieve these aims, services will have to be further reduced from April 2019. ADCA volunteers are forming a new fundraising group. Anyone interested in joining them or who have ideas for events, please contact Roger on 07807402348 or on email at millnsr@talktalk.net.

It should be noted that the chief sufferers as a result of these cuts are the dedicated and caring part-time staff who make the services possible, and of course the elderly and most socially isolated of Audlem residents for whom the Tuesday Day Club is often the highlight of the week.
