Charles Vernon sadly passed away following a very short illness and his funeral will be held on Monday 12th of December at St Marys Church in Astbury, at 1100. This will be followed by the wake at The Egerton Arms, Astbury (adjacent to St Marys).
Charles was our local village butcher for many years and has many friends and acquaintances here in Audlem. Charles's family have extended their invitation to all who knew Charles to come along to the celebration of his life.
He was 63 years old at his death -- young enough, and despite selling his shop and his business a few years ago, was a very regular visitor in the village and was a good friend and patron at The Lord Combermere. As a regular participant in the Quiz night, he was famed for his knowledge of Geography, Politics, American History and good all round general knowledge too. He also liked a flutter on the horses. With a dry wit and sense of humour, he is sorely missed by many.
Let's get as many of his friends and his acquaintances to the church on Monday to give him a good send off -- and to join his family afterward at The Egerton Arms
