A challenge to SIN this Christmas from the Vicar

In the dentist's waiting room this week I flicked through a magazine which included an article headed, "Do all your Christmas shopping without leaving the house."

I do not shop for fun, so it is quite an appealing idea, shopping from the internet etc without using the car, it all being delivered, and often at very good value, is an appealing suggestion.

But the previous week I had been in the Public Hall in the village at the ADAS Show Case. I was amazed at the variety of products it is possible to buy in the village.

ChallengeAnd so my challenge: and it is an odd challenge to put out on the village website, (as those who read this are, by their very reading it, internet people) but perhaps this is the best place for it.

Can you do all your Christmas shopping by not using the internet etc. but instead supporting the local shops in the village and our three neighbouring towns of Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Nantwich?

Most Christmas presents we buy are gestures of love, care, gratitude, and of course sometimes because we feel we have to: few people really NEED the presents we buy them, but we like to give something.

Sadly many Christmas presents will end up in charity shops, (great news for charity shops and those who enjoy shopping there), so given that we live in Audlem because we think its such a great place, love the amazing facilities and having all these wonderful local shops, and even growing in the number of shops, let's make the most of them – especially this Christmas.

One of the shops in Nantwich has in its window SIN (Shop In Nantwich) and I challenge you to SIN this Christmas, and SIMD, SIW and, of course, most importantly, SIA.
