Robert Howells is a postman based at Audlem S.P.D.O. (Sub Post Office Delivery Office) in Stafford Street. He has worked in the village for the past 8 years and has been involved in the life of parts of the community for about 15 years and is well known to the local residents.

On 28th March 2014 the lives of Alison, Robert and Joel Howells were shattered by the sudden and unexpected loss of a beautiful and talented daughter and sister at the young age of 22 years.

Ceri's life was cut short by a silent killer that is responsible for the deaths of at least twelve young people every week in the UK alone.

Ceri had been married to her husband James Palmer for 9 months and she was about to graduate with a First Class Honours Degree in Drama and Theatre Studies. She was a caring, talented young woman and had a passion for helping others, especially those who are oppressed or disadvantaged.

SADS or Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome is a hidden condition and many victims appear to all intents and purposes to be fit and healthy young people. It can strike without warning and 80% of people who die from the condition often exhibit no obvious symptoms prior to the event.

CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) is pioneering research into SADS and provides a specialist lead screening programme which uses non-invasive tests to screen young people (aged 14-35 years) for potential signs of the condition. These screening sessions have been proven to reduce the risk of death from the condition by almost 89%.

This much needed service is funded purely by donations and funds raised by bereaved families and supporters. The charity is also leading the call for the NHS and the government to consider the introduction of routine screening of young people.

On the 28th March 2015, this coming Saturday, Alison, Robert and Joel Howells are organising a fundraising event in memory of their daughter and sister Ceri Palmer Howells to raise money to support the work of the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in The Young).
