Audlem locks  The flight of locks at Audlem will be closed from 5th November to 21st December for essential maintenance and repairs.  The gates are being replaced on Lock 1 (at the top), and the balance beam of Lock 14 is also being replaced.  Other work will be carried out throughout the flight, and some sections may be dewatered.

The towpath will remain open throughout the work, and in fact walkers may find interest in viewing the work as it progresses.

#Other Closures
The canal will also be closed between the same dates at Woodseaves Cutting, two miles south of Market Drayton, and at Shebdon Embankment further south – the scene of the breach three years ago.

#After Christmas
The whole of the Shropshire Union “main line” from Wolverhampton through Audlem to Chester and beyond will then be open throughout the rest of the winter.
