A525 campaign plans hit the headlines

Today's Evening Sentinel's front page lead story describes in detail the problems Audlem suffers as a result of Heavy Goods Vehicles passing through the village. The story focuses on how Kinsey Heath resident Kate Parkes was forced off the road in the village centre when a French truck scraped the side of her car which had her 2-year old daughter as a passenger. Kate was again forced off the road by a foreign truck at Sandy Lane only two days later.

The report covers the document the Audlem Parish Plan group is pulling together which will be sent to Transport Minister Douglas Alexander, with the help of MP Stephen O'Brien, arguing that the A525 from Woore to Burleydam should be de-primed. The submission follows last year's Parish Plan questionnaire where residents identified the HGV's as the biggest problem facing Audlem. A working party is gathering evidence, including incidents such those suffered by Kate, and plans to submit the detailed proposal in the next two months.
