Parking enforcement officers could be invited to make spot checks on rogue drivers in Audlem. The move follows complaints over drivers ignoring double yellow lines and parking on pavements in the village centre.
This month's Audlem Parish Council meeting was told that cars were regularly left on double yellow lines by St James Church and on the Square outside the old Coop store.
Cllr. Bill Consterdine said police no longer enforced illegal parking and that it was a matter for the new Cheshire East authority. "We should ask Cheshire East for an enforcement officer to make irregular visits to the village," he said.
Councillors were also told local police could prosecute drivers for causing an obstruction and creating danger for other road users when parking on double yellow lines.
The Parish Council is to write to Cheshire East calling for spot checks in the village in a bid to deter illegal parking.
