Please find below the Volunteer Lock Keeper Report for June.

As normal the Canal & River Trust Volunteers met in their covered accommodation adjacent to the entrance to the Audlem Mill Shop.

This month we had 8 volunteers available for the programme of work, clearing the canal tow path from the wharf up towards lock 12, this included strimming the bottom of the grass bank beside the tow path, all successfully cleared and swept.

Other members of the team focused on the 'kerb / low fenced side' of the entrance road from the wharf up towards the Bridge Inn, again job done with the kerb edge strimmed to tidy the job. Also some small low branches were removed from a tree overhanging the road.

Our 'Litter Picking Expert' also had a busy morning checking the flight of locks and down towards Overwater Marina, again a good job well done, all materials removed from site to our wheelie bin area for collection by our licenced waste contractor.

The weather this morning was kind to us 'no wet shirts' in fact it became warm at one stage, which made the programme of work more enjoyable.

Then as usual, back to the covered accommodation for a nice hot cuppa and this month a selection of pastries and pies supplied by the Co-op, thank you Hugh.

Our 'resident chef Robbo' was missed today, obviously updating his skills in the 'bacon sandwich department'

For information our next planned Task Force day will be on Friday 12th July with a 10:00 start, the plan of work will involve freshening up the canal tow paths for the 'Canal Boat- Festival of Transport'

But as normal you will find volunteer lock keepers working on the flight of locks most days.
