For those interested in sightings of birds locally, here's one from Steve Morgan:

"Seen Friday at approximately 11am at Overwater Marina: 15 Buzzards circling and 1 Red Kite.
Also spotted in flight, by someone else, the Eagle Owl. I also saw it perching in a tree along the drive at the marina."

Red kites have been seen increasingly in recent years but are still very unusual in the area. The Eagle Own was spotted last week, originally at Bunsley Bank to the east of the village.

An Eagle Owl was thought to have attacked a number of cats in Audlem in December 2013. When seen in England, they are nearly always escapes from collections rather than 'wild' birds.

Buzzards are now common in the area after first appearing about fifteen years ago. Fifteen atone time is, however, the most ever reported to AudlemOnline, beating the previous thirteen.
