Audlem and District Acting Positively for Transition (ADAPT) Group has now started its 7th year. It began with a group of folk concerned about the global and local way that we human beings were affecting our planet by our life style. The feeling was that this was just not sustainable for the future and our children and children's children will suffer the effects. The dependency on fossil fuels and the adverse effects on our global climate as well as the desire to see more control over the food we eat and the desire to see a more sustainable (in the non-political sense of the word) community were some of the issues which drew the group together.

The Paris Climate Change Meeting will be dominating our headlines shortly but sometimes these global discussions may seem to be beyond us. Our aim all along has been to seek ways in which, albeit in small ways, we locally can make a difference. This we seek to do through our action groups who report each month to our main meeting. This meeting is also an opportunity to keep informed of the latest developments and to decide on new initiatives. Here is a review of the last year.

Membership

At the end of October 2015 there were 23 people on the mailing list and 20 had completed a Membership Application form for insurance purposes.
The group were much saddened by the death of Susan James, one of the original members of the group.

As well as receiving reports from the action groups , the monthly meeting has also included a series of presentations on Food related subjects: "Incredible Edibles" project of Market Drayton, "Bees" and "Pollination" and Energy subjects: "Heat Pumps" and "LED Lighting". These were all interesting and well presented evenings.
