Burleydam WI hears about Aloe Vera

One of the many claims made for Aloe Vera is the somewhat dubious one that, of all the common plant products, it is probably the one that has made most millionaires in the USA.

Its name is well known, which helps, and there are no testing methods which can determine its quality. It is claimed that Aloe Vera juice is probably the most adulterated product on the market. Suppliers often stretch one gallon of genuine Aloe Vera gel liquid or powder to literally tens or hundreds of gallons of finished drink.

Its use internally is comparatively recent; it is perhaps best known for its use in cosmetics and skin care. The external healing and pain relieving properties of Aloe Vera gel have been known for centuries. When applied to the skin in its natural form direct from the leaf it has amazing soothing qualities.

Not everyone can harvest their own Aloe Vera gel so Mandy Kitchingman came along to demonstrate some of the high quality products from "Forever Living" which have helped her over the years. These have a high content of Aloe Vera gel in them as the list of contents indicated and Mandy's glowing good health would seem to testify to the beneficial properties of the product!

Burleydam & District WI members were able to try out the wide range and order those that they liked. It was a very enjoyable evening all round. The vote of thanks was given by Ann Rutter who has an Aloe Vera plant which has kept her family supplied with gel for many years. Just cut off a leaf when needed!

The competition which Mandy judged was a tip for a healthy life. The winner was Gladys Burrough, second Ann Rutter and third Liz Gentil.
