British Waterways are looking to recruit a new type of volunteer and are hoping to use Audlem to pilot the project. Please click on the link underneath the photograph of the bridge to see the poster which offers more details of the scheme.

Their intention is to appoint volunteer Rangers who will provide a better experience for visitors to the Shropshire Union Canal. This could be done by pointing out local areas of interest around the village, or maybe something as simple as guiding them to the Post Office, or perhaps the nearest available starting point for one of the many local walks publicised on the website.

If you think that you might have some free time that you could commit regularly to this project then contact the British Waterways Volunteer Coordinator by email: volunteer@britishwaterways.co.uk">volunteer@britishwaterways.co.uk or tel: 07824 327272.
