Truman Capote
Born Septrember 30th 1924 in New Orleans
Died August 25th 1984 in Los Angeles
Truman Garcia Capote (born Truman Streckfus Persons) was an American novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and actor.
As a lonely child, Capote taught himself to read and write before he entered his first year of school. He was often seen at age five carrying his dictionary and notepad, and he began writing fiction at the age of 11.
The heroine of Breakfast at Tiffany's, Holly Golightly, became one of Capote's best known creations, and the book's prose style prompted Norman Mailer to call Capote "the most perfect writer of my generation".
Capote earned the most fame with In Cold Blood, a journalistic work about the murder of a Kansas farm family in their home. He spent four years writing the book aided by his lifelong friend Harper Lee, who wrote To Kill a Mockingbird.
