THE BELLS ARE RINGING

...at least for a few weeks longer!

The Audlem bellringers are pleased to announce that finally we have raised enough money from donations and grants to restore the bells.

The start of this historic work will be in the week beginning Monday 30th October.

The bells are going to be lowered from the tower, where they have been since 1736 and transported to John Taylor's Bell Foundry at Loughborough for extensive renovation. This is obviously a difficult, exciting and specialist operation as the bells are large and very heavy.

In order to reduce costs, we are trying to provide voluntary local labour -- the bellringers can supply some -- so if anyone in the village is interested in helping out at this historic event, please contact John Vickers at j.vickers738@btinternet.com who will give more information.

The bad news is that the last time the bells will be rung this year will be for the Sunday service on October 29th, but on completion of the work the bells will have been saved for future generations.

The bellringers would like to thank all those people who have generously donated towards the restoration. This includes local residents, local traders, The Hobson Charity, The Chester Diocesan Guild of Bellringers, The Central Guild of Bellringers and the Church Buildings Council.
