Something to look forward to during the dark days of Winter....
Ralph Warburton has told us that the very professional and popular Buerton House Annual Outdoor Shakespeare play by the Dean Taylor Company next Summer will be "The Merry Wives of Windsor".
The play first appeared in the last decade of the sixteenth century. It has been suggested that Shakespeare was one of Queen Elizabeth I's favourite playwrights and that she so enjoyed the buffoon Falstaff that she personally requested that Shakespeare write an entire comedy surrounding Falstaff. This would explain the powerful female characters as a bow to the queen and grand slapstick comedy surrounding Falstaff's mishaps in the play.
The dates of the performances will be sometime around the middle of June – further detail next year.
