Award Winning Potholes?

When AudlemOnline recently published an article from Cheshire East Council proudly declaring they had won a prestigious award for the management of their roads, many of our readers thought it was an April Fool spoof as they pointed out the dire condition of the roads in and around Audlem.

"You cannot safely ride a bike from St James Church towards the cemetery" said one.
" Go out of the village towards Staffordshire or Shropshire and the road surfaces are much better" said another.

So your intrepid webteam thought we would take a stroll from the centre of the village by the COOP out along Cheshire Street to the village boundary near Gladman Fields – all this stretch under the management of Cheshire East.

The photos enclosed are examples of the condition of the road – but by no means all the problems.
You may say why have we not reported this to Cheshire East? Well the article aforementioned said the road repairs are proactively managed! In any case we are pretty sure that some of the potholes have already been reported, probably several times – but just to make sure, we have reported them again, and been given reference number 3282033 – we will keep readers informed about the response we get!

We would humbly(?) suggest that the whole stretch of carriageway from the canal bridge to the village boundary on the Nantwich road urgently needs resurfacing.

A major road cycle race is planned for later in the year through the village by the local RNLI, and as the road surface is currently, this must be a considerable safety risk.

We would be happy to publish anything from our local Parish Council or Cheshire East Highways outlining what action is in hand to resolve this problem
