The Needlework Shop at Audlem Mill has had the huge honour of being nominated for the Best Local Stitch Store in the north west of England at www.britishcraftawards.com
The nomination has been made by several of our customers, and we are extremely grateful. Last year, we also received the nomination, and we were "runner up". This year, we would love to win, and bring to Audlem yet another award recognising our superb village.
To achieve this amazing accolade, we are asking Audlem people to vote for us at www.britishcraftawards.com
If you have not yet visited our needlework shop, please do. At present (and until 7th December), we are hosting an exhibition "Glorious Colour" – a wide range of colourful hand woven wall hangings, scarves, bookmarks, table mats, ribbons and braids etc., by Burleydam based Fiona Nisbet.
Come and read our Visitor Book, which this year alone has been signed by people from Sweden, South Africa, Italy, Norway, Germany, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia – and, unbelievably, Siberia. This lady said she had had to wait three years for her return trip to our shop, and it had been well worth the wait!
Another lady, from Iceland, plans her canal holiday every two years so it includes our shop.
I passionately love living and working in Audlem, and am forever extolling its virtues to our worldwide visitors.
The British Craft Awards are awarded by a major craft magazine publisher in association with Craft, Hobby & Stitch International, and the Best Local Stitch Store will be awarded at the latter's annual needlework trade show at the NEC in February, at a major red carpet event.
Votes must be registered by 19th December. Please vote for us in the Stitch Awards section, as it would mean so much to us. We're listed on the website in the North West section as Abacus Designs, our needlework brand name for the last twenty years.
Needlework might seem a strange choice of career for me, as my school report card from Wilmslow Girls' Grammar School said that I was "a complete waste of time at needlework, and should probably consider leaving the class".
The world moves in mysterious ways!
Thank you
Chris Silvester
