Audlem was a big winner at last night's Cheshire Community Action's Presentation Evening held this year in Nantwich Civic Hall.

The village won the Best Kept Village award for an amazing fifth year in a row. There was also a Little Gem award for Audlem cemetery, seating and the condition of the churchyard and memorials.

And, we are delighted to announce, Audlem Online was judged to be the best website in the county – and this may not be the last you'll hear about that particular success on this website! We came out top when the judges gave us the highest marks for: ease of use; quality of content; design; community involvement and showcasing the community among other criteria.

There was also a Highly Commended award for Audlem's Parish Newsletter.

Hankelow enjoyed success too with a Little Gem award while the village was also runner up to Tarporley for its community spirit.

The wall plaques are getting ever more numerous on the wall in the Square. They include the national Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) award in 2005 when Audlem was adjudged the single best village across England's fifty counties.

It just so happens that Defra never repeated that competition which means, we suspect, that Audlem can still claim to be officially The Best Village in England.

Last night's awards show that success continues to come Audlem's way. Maybe we all deserve a big pat on the back!
