Regular readers may have seen the section in Becky Jewitt's piece yesterday about the work of the Roving Reporters and their creation of this year's school newspaper.

The team this year was:

  • Editor: Ruby Preston (Year 6)
  • Sub-editor: George Spain (Year 6)
  • Technical editor: Emily Suggate (Year 6)
  • Reporter: Molly Sullivan (Year 5)
  • Riley Capewell (Year 5). Riley was also Sports Reporter
  • Christina Bugeja (Year 4).

Ruby, George and Emily had worked on the 2014 publication and it is hoped that Molly, Riley and Christina will provide continuity next year with three new members also joining the team.

Two members of the AudlemOnline webteam worked with the Roving Reporters and added a short piece to the publication, saying:

This is the second time we, both members of the AudlemOnline webteam, have worked with the Roving Reporters, helping them to produce the school newspaper 'Inside/Outside St James'.

Both last year and this, we have tried to keep our contribution to a minimum so that the work is almost entirely the pupil's own. They chose the title, chose the topics, wrote the copy, tested the recipe (on us – and very good it was, too), created the puzzles and took most of the photos.

We would also like to thank Joe, our long-suffering and very supportive printer, for his willingness to help in our endeavours.

It has been a real pleasure seeing the enthusiasm and watching the development of these budding journalists and we hope they have enjoyed the experience as much as we have.

Our thanks to Kate Heathcock for all her hard work – she will be a real loss to the school – and to head teacher Becky Jewitt. And most of all, a "Thank You" to the Roving Reporters – you made a great team.
