Audlem's children evacuated!

When Alison Wood sent us some photos, the first we opened was the sepia shot seen here. Should it go straight into the Historical Gallery? How had Alison unearthed this piece of war-time history as Audlem's children were driven away to safety?

It was only when we opened a colour shot that we thought the quality was hardly 1940s. And we recognised some familiar faces.

What's going on? The answer will surely be revealed on 11/11/11.
