Aaah, summer- that long anticipated stretch of lazy, lingering days, free of responsibility and rife with possibility.

The best part of a holiday is perhaps not so much to be resting yourself, but to see all the other people busy working, and ideally we would take a six months holiday twice a year if it were not for the fact that as women we need to communicate with our friends on a regular basis in the full knowledge that the key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught!

Summer is really like the ultimate one-night stand, totally thrilling, but gone before you know it and sadly, now that our summer is nearly over and it's time to remember what day of the week it is, we need to direct our vivacious selves in the direction of the Guide and Scout Hall for our final evening meeting, before the dark nights set in!

This month's competition is 'An Unusual Holiday Snap.' The mind boggles at the variety of images that this conjures up, and I for one, am expecting to see an amazing, if not unorthodox, selection of views.

Not for us WI ladies the simple snap of a coastline. No, we haven't had knee and hip replacements for nothing, after all someone has to show the grandchildren how to do handstands and cartwheels!

We bravely and fearlessly attempt smiles, pluckily holding onto false teeth, as we hurtle down roller coasters. Alton Towers was made for us!

In our more sedate moments we refresh ourselves with Singapore Slings in Raffles, before contemplating diving elegantly into the deep blue sea, without a thought for the arrow shaped fin close to us!

All in all we have moved on from the elegant poses in a knitted swimsuit, to a more daredevil approach to life!

Remember age is an issue of mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! So bring along those photos so that we can all gasp in admiration at the stunts that we have pursued over the summer. I'm sure AudlemOnline will be happy to publish them!

Margaret Boschi and Sandy Loughlin will be enlightening us with a talk on 'Nantwich Players, Past, Present and Future.' As we are not short of a few thespians within our own ranks, this promises to be an appealing subject, I suspect it will also be hilarious.

See you all on Thursday 3rd September at 7.30pm in The Scout and Guide Hall, and don't forget those photos!
