Audlem WI – The Final Chapter

The Final Chapter

After many decades of camaraderie, laughter, and shared experiences, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Audlem WI which has proudly served our community for 105 years, continuing a legacy of friendship, learning, and support since its founding.

Our members, rich with the experiences of well-lived lives, have all at some point served on the committee, pouring their time and passion into this wonderful group. The friendships formed here have been nothing short of a blessing, but times are changing, and the direction the National WI is now heading--focusing more on technology and Zoom meetings--no longer aligns with the strengths and needs of our group. 

For many of us, the Annual Meeting was a cherished event, a chance to reconnect in person, which sadly seems to be fading away to becoming an annual Zoom meeting in the not too distant future. 

Whilst the WI moves forward, it has perhaps overlooked the vital contributions and perspectives of its older members, many of whom are less familiar with today's digital tools. 

On a personal note, writing the monthly meeting articles has been a joy, and being part of this vibrant group has been one of the highlights of my life. 

Like all good things, this chapter must come to an end. We close with the hope that one day a younger generation will revive Audlem WI and find as much joy and laughter here as we have It's been a blast!
