Audlem tractor brought to life

This week's Chronicle carries an interesting story about a piece of Audlem's farming history brought back to life. Darrell Williams and his ten year old son Francis, who live in Shavington, have restored a rare 1960s Fordson Super Major tractor. The work has been so successful the tractor has scooped 'best in show' prizes four out five times since the work was completed.

Darrel says: "My late father, Bernard, worked on a farm in Audlem for many years and used to drive the tractor. He had it from new in 1964 and as a kid growing up on a farm, I saw him working on it. At the age of 15 I got to drive it and it was great. But then I left school and the last I saw of the tractor was in 1982."

"Last year, the farm in Audlem was selling off its tractors and that's when I happened to come across the one my dad used to drive. It was in an absolute state, a real wreck and it was quite upsetting to see."
