Tucked in the heart of the village at The Lord Combermere, Audlem Support Group offers a warm, welcoming space for people who have experienced a stroke, head injury or any other life changing injury. Meeting every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12.00pm at The Square in Audlem, the group brings together survivors, caregivers and family members in an informal, understanding environment — with the added bonus of plenty of parking, a rare thing in Audlem.
Recovery after a stroke or head injury can feel overwhelming at times. Progress may be slow, and challenges can seem daunting. But at Audlem Support Group, no one has to face that journey alone. Here, members share experiences, offer encouragement, and celebrate every step forward — however big or small. There is something deeply reassuring about talking to people who truly understand, because they have been there too.
The atmosphere is cheerful and uplifting. Laughter is often heard alongside heartfelt conversations, practical advice and shared wisdom. Over hot drinks — and with the option to purchase lunch from the bar — friendships are formed and confidence begins to grow again. The group is proud to be supported by the love and encouragement of the wider Audlem community, reflecting the strong village spirit that makes this area so special.
New members are always warmly welcomed – just turn up – and our arms are open to anyone affected by stroke, head injury or any other life changing injury, whether you come on your own or with a partner, carer or family member. Whilst we are based in Audlem, people from surrounding and outlying areas are equally welcome to join us.
Importantly, the group embraces a positive message: improvement is always possible. No matter how severe the stroke or injury, people can and do make progress, especially when supported by others who care. Together, members remind one another that recovery is not a race, but a journey — and that every journey is easier when walked side by side.
