Audlem Saints Under 11s – the end.... and a new beginning!

Many Audlem Online readers will be aware that Audlem Saints junior football team enjoyed huge success in recent years. Starting as an U7s team they played for 5 seasons up until the end of last season.

In that time, they played in 9 league competitions; finishing as Champions four times and runner up four times. In addition they won the cup three times as well! The team was phenomenally successful and was made up entirely of Audlem boys.

The soccer played up to under-12 level is 7-a side mini soccer and so the start of the new season would have meant moving up to 11 a side and so signing 3 or 4 new players. That would have been manageable but the team was also set to lose a few players. They are such a talented group of sportsmen that the Saints team lost one player to a Premiership Academy, one to County Tennis and one to County Golf.

With doubt surrounding one or two others, we decided to bow out gracefully and the team was brought to an end during the summer. All the boys that were wishing to continue have signed for Nantwich Town juniors and all are doing well.

The boys gave 100% effort for five years, achieved great things and had great fun. In addition, they did so whilst being known as a "good set of lads" and without antagonising the opposition. Well done boys, you did the village proud!

With a fantastic sense of timing, Mark Wilding has launched a brand new Under 8s team and so we look forward to giving that group all the support that we can. Come on Saints!
Audlem Online says a big "Thank You" to David Parry for all the excellent reports over those five years and to the team for all the pleasure they have given us and, we are sure, so many readers. What a history of amazing success. David, you, and the whole Saints team, should feel very proud.
