Audlem Ramblers walk Sat 23rd Sept

Connor McIlwrath is leading the Hard ARS walk in North Wales. He will meet you at the start point at 10 am.

Those people travelling from Audlem meet in the Car Park to depart at 8 am and please advise Connor in advance by phone (07931 621920) that they are joining him.

Walk description: The Carneddau ridge from Llyn Ogwen

Starting at the eastern end of Llyn Ogwen, this route climbs the three highest mountains in the Carneddau range. With brilliant views of Tryfan, an exciting scramble to Pen yr Ole Wen and fantastic ridge paths, this is one of my favourite routes in Snowdonia.

  • Start and End Location: Lay-by parking alongside the A5 at the east side of Llyn Ogwen. There are a couple of car parks along the A5 as it passes Llyn Ogwen.
  • Start Postcode: LL24 0EU, approx.
  • Distance: 14km
  • Time: 6 hours
  • Facilities: Public toilets next to the Ogwen Partnership Centre at the west side of Llyn Ogwen.
  • Grade: Hard Mountain Walk, with a few short scrambles
  • Aim to arrive at 10am and start walking by 10.15am.
  • If the weather is looking dodgy then the back-up plan is a walk along the northern end of the Clwydian Hills near Prestatyn.

A detailed description of the walk:
Pen yr Ole Wen and Carnedd Llywelyn, Llyn Ogwen

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
