Steve Elliott is leading this walk, meet in Audlem Car Park for departure at 9 am

Beeston Castle Walk
4.75ml (7.5km)
515ft (157m) height gain~ 2.5hrs

Leaving Audlem car park at 9, it's a 30min drive to the official Beeston Castle car park. It's free parking for English Heritage members, £4 for others. If anyone has a membership card could they bring it please – regardless of whether they are driving.

The walk is a fairly gentle walk on mostly good tracks. There is mud in numerous places, not particularly deep but for some a stick would help.
Mostly dog friendly and there was only 1 stile

We leave the car park and head SWW on the road for 100m and then join the Sandstone Trail. This takes us initially through woodland before we cross a lane and enter the Peckforton Estate. The next 2.5km involves gently climbing on a forest lane with some mud but fairly firm underfoot.

There will be a coffee break at some point
We then gently descend and reach some fields before we leave the estate and have a short walk along a quiet lane.On reaching the Peckforton Castle Lodge we leave the lane across fields and through Willis's Wood.

Rather than crossing the open field to reach Beeston, we will probably turn left onto the nearby road as there were lots of cows! The road has a good footpath for the final 0.5km back to the carpark.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
