It may have started as a light-hearted Vote Poll but it appears the serious point behind our 'Welsh' vote is interesting the media far and wide. Both BBC and Granada have been in the village this lunchtime and say they will run stories on Audlem in tonight's regional news bulletins.
The national media have also covered the story in a big way. Today's Independent has a full page story about Audlem with splendid photographs of the village, including the Shroppie Fly, the Mill Shop and the canal. The newspaper describes Audlem as an idyllic English village. The Daily Telegraph and Daily Express have stories about the Vote Poll too while the Daily Mail features it on its website. It's just been announced at 2.00pm that other places in the North West are to be asked on TV if they'd like to switch to Wales to get the benefits England doesn't enjoy.
