Audlem was featured on the national BBC Radio 4 programme You and Yours broadcast at 12noon today. A reporter was in the village for some hours last week and also visited Berwick upon Tweed where a debate on switching to Scotland has been raging, albeit a little more seriously there.

The programme included a beautiful rendition of the Welsh national anthem by Audlem residents Pat Jones and Gloria Bates accompanied on piano by Rose Consterdine. Gloria also explained a little of Welsh life while Bill Consterdine started the programme describing the flag of St George fluttering above the Welsh flag on the church tower for the day. Stuart Robson, the BBC reporter, also recorded in the Salad Bowl's Coffee Lounge which had featured Welsh specialties for the day.

The programme, which lasted a good ten minutes, featured Audlem Online and re-emphasised this was an April Fool story but with a very serious point behind it, hence all the media interest. The broadcast finished with an appeal for English MPs to copy their Welsh Assembly counterparts and tackle the 12% of prescriptions that have to paid for in England which are free in Wales.
