Audlem Online has received the following message about the Audlem Music & Arts Festival from Ralph Warburton: "I regret to tell you that the Arts element of the Festival, as we know it, will not now take place. The people available to help me put on that part of the weekend will not be available. The pubs music will, as far as I know, go ahead as all three pubs wish to have the event. I am now working with them to get acts booked. Funds will need to generated to help me create promotional material – on a far lower cost than last year. The Parish Council, I hope, will help with a request for funds and I hope to generate interest from local businesses – and the three pubs – which benefit from the visitors attracted to Audlem for the weekend.

The White Lion at Hankelow has also said they want to come on board with music there this year.

At present, I do not envisage a Public Hall Event after the dismal support we received last year. This is inevitable -with free competition from the bands in the pubs- unless we can organise acts that have their own draw, such as Geno Washington and Ruby Turner."

Ralph adds that he needs support, particularly as he has much on his plate as it is. But he adds: "Perhaps once we get going booking bands for the pubs and drawing up the programme and the publicity, it will all get exciting and rewarding. In the work of booking bands, I am hoping that Al Dean will be of enourmous help to me. Whatever, please note the dates 25th to 28th May as the Audlem Music Festival Weekend."
