Audlem Lass gets double-page spread treatment in the current issue of the national magazine Canals, Rivers + Boats.

Accompanied by two splendid photographs, the article says "The little water taxi's first season has been a great success."

The article describes the first year from the acquisition of the boat's hull and fitting out and the recruitment of a team of coxswains, or "eleven local, retired gentlemen" as the magazine puts it.

Their training with Overwater Marina based Cheshire Cat Training leading to RYA Inland Helmsman Certificates is described, as is the essential 'man overboard' training with Anthony Davis, Overwater Marina supervisor, who dived into the canal three times during that day's training.

The Shropshire branch of the Inland Waterways Association receives a mention too – it was their donation of a dozen lifejackets that enables children sponsored by the Countryside Trust to visit the marina and get their first taste of cruising.

The article concludes with: "Audlem Lass will start up again in the spring when the crew and passengers will, once again, enjoy the beauty and wildlife of Overwater Marina, Audlem and the South Cheshire countryside."

The magazine is available at the Mill Shop and costs £3.50.
