Now it is eight years since I reformed the Club after many years of non existence . Along with Dan Morris , who came to see me and sought my input from a managerial and business point of view .
Dan has long ago moved on . We are members of Division 1 of the Crewe and Nantwich Sunday Football League .
Last season, as we approached Covid-19, we were truly playing well. With A real chance of climbing into the top three of the league.
Now we begin our new season. Taking full account of the regime of Covid-19, we have been training with the squad. Some 37 players have signed on for the 2020/2021 season. Many regulars and a good sprinkling of new talents – I do not buy players. We just open the doors to those we feel with enhance the performance of the Club. Each player pays a £10 signing on fee. This money enables us to afford new kit, balls, medical bag, sanitizers, referee fees etc etc.
We now kick off this Sunday the 9th , a very special day for me personally, in a friendly versus Broadhurst of Northwich. Referee is Jem Cornes, a very welcome official who has a firm but fair hand on the game .
No showers allowed given the virus that rules our lives now, so players will take their kit home with them after the game.
Again we will be royally catered for at the Bridge Inn , with our host Adam welcoming us once more.
We play in a brand new kit – and management team of Kev Rodgers, Kev Mort and James Bebbington are all fired up – as indeed am I. Do come and see our play on the playing field that one day soon – I hope – will belong to this wonderful village .
